Sri Maha Bodhi Tree (The Sacred Bo Tree)
·        Sri Maha Bodhi Tree is the most sacred tree in the world and it is the oldest tree in the world which has a written history.
·        Arahat Sangamitta Therini brought Sri Maha Bodhi
 Tree to Sri Lanka and planted in Mahamewna Park
with a lot of devotion in the time of King
 Dewaampiyatissa.








Lowamahapaya
·        King Dutugemunu had built Lowamahapaya for the use of Buddhist Priests.
·        This was use as a Pohoya Geya / Uposathagaraya ( Chapter House )of Maha Wihara bikkus.
·        The king got the plan to built Lowamahapaya from the heaven Thawthisa with the help of eight arahant bhikkus.
·        There were nine stairs in this building when King Dutugemunu built it first and there had been thousand rooms too.
·        Many kings had rebuilt and repaired Lowamahapaya after the time of King Dutugemunu.




Moonstone (Sandakadapahana )

·        This is one of the two Moonstones in Sri Lanka, which is famed to be exceptionally artistic.
·        World beings on fire is signified by the palapeti, the beings going through Samsara by the quadrupeds, the carving by the festoons, the pious by the swans, the attenuation of carving by the small festoons and the lotus by enlightenment are the main themes of this moonstone.




The Samadhi Buddha Statue

·       This is a world famous Buddha statue which is in the Bodhigara of Abhayagiri monastery complex.

Lankaramaya

·       Lankaramaya had built by King Walagamba.
·       The stupa was named as Somaramaya too, in the name
of King Walagamba’s wife, Soma Devi.
·       As she was a brave queen who sacrificed her life for the
sake of our mother land, she was called as Lanka Devi too, so as the stupa got its name Lankaramaya.
·       This stupa too as Thuparamaya, is built on a stone stage and this too
 had a circular house, one of ancient circular houses in Sri Lanka.
·       The circular house of Lankaramaya had built by King Kanittathissa.
·       This stupa has the shape amalakara (the shape of a nelli fruit ),
 one of very rear shapes that can be seen in the stupa’s of
Sri Lanka.





The Samadhi Buddha Statue

·       This is a world famous Buddha statue which is in the Bodhigara of Abhayagiri monastery complex.









Ruwanweliseya
·       Ruwanweliseya is one of the largest sthupas which had built by King Dutugemunu, The Great.
·       It was named as Maha Thupa too.
·       It is believed that their lived a goddess named Swarnamali on a Thelambu tree in the land where the thupa was to build. And she refused to leave the tree for the purpose of building the stupa. But at last she left the tree as the king promised her to name the sthupa in her name. So the sthupa was named Swarnamali which is used as Ruwanweliseya at present. 
·       This is the stupa which the largest number of The Buddha’s relics enshrined in. It is believed that about a handful of ( dronayak ) relics are enshrined in this sacred stupa.
